Exodus 12:14

So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations.  You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

In this scripture, God speaks to Moses, instructing him to implement the Passover.  It is in the Passover that we see the significance of blood sacrifices as a means of deliverance for individuals, families and nations.  Jesus brought greater meaning to Passover when He set Holy Communion in order at the Last Supper.   The old Passover was a celebration of the rescue from physical bondage to freedom in our mortal lives; Holy Communion is a memorial celebration of deliverance from death unto eternal life.  The need for animal blood was abolished and the provision of the blood of God's only Son was instituted.  Let us not forget the greatest price for our eternal hope and future.

Luke 13:11-13

And behold there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could no wise lift up herself.

And when Jesus saw her, he called her unto him, and said unto her, Woman thou art loosed from thine infirmity.  And he laid his hands on her and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.

In Luke 13 we read about a woman who had suffered at the hands of the enemy for 18 years.  The spirit of infirmity had such a hold on this woman that she was literally bent over in a position of submission.  She could no longer lift up her head, and her situation seemed hopeless.  But, then, Jesus saw, called her and set her free.  She was immediately straightened, and she praised God.  So, listen to the word of Jesus your Healer.  "Thou are loosed from thine infirmity."  No praise God!

Proverbs 1:8-9

My son, hear the instructions of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:  For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

It is a shame when children rebel against the teachings of their mothers and fathers.  Wise King Solomon knew from experience that receiving parental instrucion is not meant to be burdensome or annoying.  It is an enhancement - a means of increased attractiveness - like jewelry worn elegantly.  This knowledge passed down brings added value to lives of the descendants who live by it.  God bless all of our moms today!  Thank you for your wisdom!  May each of you be blessed by obedient children.
