Psalm 107:9

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Here in the Thanksgiving Season, our main focus is on food for our bodies.  Surely we want to be thankful for nourishment and God's provision of physical things we need.  Here in Psalm 107 the psalmist is thankful for the spiritual nourishment that comes to the longing soul.  I sincerely hope you all had a great thanksgiving celebration with your families and friends.  I hope you expressed your thanksgiving to God for all His goodness, physically and spiritually.  We are officially in the 2012 Holiday Season.  Let's keep Christ the center of all our celebrations as we anticipate greater things for the new year ahead.  Pastor John

Revalation 21:1

And I saw a new heaven and and new earth:  for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away, and there was no more sea.

Are you really thankful for all that God has done for you in your life?  In this scripture from Revelation it appears that God will one day outdo anything He's done for us in the past.  It's hard to imagine a "new heaven" when you haven't yet seen the "old heaven."   And what was wrong with the
"old heaven" anyway?  Maybe it's just not going to be big enough by the end of the millennium.  Maybe God wants to make some home improvements.  After all, He will be bringing His Son's new bride home, and we all know how brides can be.  Maybe He's building a "new heaven" just because He can.  From what I've read in God's word, and from the blessings He's already brought me, I certainly don't want to miss this one. When we give thanks to God, we need to probably place our focus on what God's done in our past.  However, don't forget what He's promised to give us in the future - a brand new heaven.  It's for real!  Pastor John
