You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
David found favor with God and was provided for even when his enemies sought to destroy him and steal his most cherished possessions. He was not intimidated by his enemies, even when they were nearby. Perhaps David knew the adage about keeping his friends close, but his enemies closer. At the moment when David penned Psalm 23, his fiercest enemy was his own king, Saul. Yet his best friend was Saul's son, Jonathan, who was to be the successor to the throne. God clearly had a greater purpose for David. David loved his king, but that love was not mutaul because of Saul's jealousy and greed. David's testimony was that God was always close, no matter what trials he faced. Even when David forsook the Lord later in his life, God never pulled His will from him. From this I see God's unconditional love for those who are not intimidated by Satan's evil ploys. Pastor John

Psalms 91:15-16
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Many folks today are restless, seeking answers to life's problems and circumstances beyond their control. All too often their sources for assistance prove to be useless, leaving them unsatisfied or unpleased with the results. The arm of flesh will fail us time and again. The Lord alone has the answers to all of life's challenges, problems and cares. Our help truly comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. We need to call upon the Lord, and He will bring about the much -needed results. All things are possible with Him, but we must believe and trust Him. No one understands us like Jesus, and no One is nearer to us than Him. Just cast every care upon the Lord, because He cares for you. Pastor John

Romans 11:36
For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by His power, and everything is for His glory. To Him be glory evermore.
In this verse, the Apostle Paul really answers the question many people ask: Why am I here? As Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life, says, "It's all for Him." The ultimate reason that mankind is here - the reason this universe exists - is to give glory to God. We live as a direct result of God's power. Outside of God, there is nothing. If you're wrestling with the question of why you are here, purpose to give God your worship and service by reading His Word and praying earnestly. As you do this, He will reveal the meaning of your life. He will guide you to where your life will bring Him the most glory and where you will be the most blessed. Pastor John

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
One cannot read the Bible, attend church regularly or hear the teaching of the Gospel without asking some questions. Asking questions does not make someone a doubter. It signifies that the person is seeking more knowledge about what he has read or heard. When we hear a phenomenal statement, many times our response is, "Really?" We respond this way because we want to know what is "for real". This fall we will look at some pertinent theological questions and we will see what the Bible says to answer them. We'll seek real answers for real questions. Pastor John

1 Timothy 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in love, in faith, and in purity.
In this verse the Apostle Paul encourages young Timothy, telling him that age is no factor when ministy is your calling. Really, Paul is telling Timothy what every Christian must do, whether in ministry or laity. How we speak, how we live, the love we have for others, our faith in God and the purity of our actions should set a Christ-like example. Our children, youth, and young adults form the backbone of our ministry here at Harbor Life. I thank God for their talent, their calling, and their Christ-like example. Whether on stage, in a classroom or behind the scenes, our young people are a valuable blessing to us. Pastor John
